Entering Batches

To initiate a new batch: Select 'NEW' from the 'BATCH' menu.  A new blank batch will be generated.  This new batch will automatically be assigned the next sequential Batch Number, and will be marked as being 'Created By' you (using your login User ID as an identifying stamp).    The 'Data-Entry' form will be displayed, ready for you to begin entering Death data records.  Type the information in the edit fields. Use the TAB key to move foward from field to field.  Use SHIFT-TAB to move backwards from field to field.    If the data you entered in a particular field does not pass validation, you may get an error message.  Read the error message and take action to correct the problem.  This usually means consists of checking the field for typographical errors, and correcting them.   Records are automatically posted (written to the database) when you tab from the last field on the row (AGE AT DEATH).
